Est. 1943 · Federation Park, Port of Spain
The oldest established art organisation in the Caribbean — celebrating over eight decades of Trinbagonian creative life.
Our Mission
To nurture, promote, protect and advocate for visual artists and the visual arts in Trinidad and Tobago.
Who We Are
Founded in 1943, the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago is the oldest established art organisation in the Caribbean. From a small gathering of painters and poets inspired by modernism and the wider world, we have grown into the region's premier institution for visual culture — nurturing, promoting, protecting, and advocating for visual artists and the visual arts in Trinidad and Tobago.
"My canvas is all things Trinidad & Tobago. Its festivals, quaint villages, peaceful rivers, majestic mountains and people full of a lifetime of stories will forever provide inspiration."
— Peter Sheppard, President, ASTT
The Community
Our opening nights are a gathering of the whole nation — artists, collectors, students, families, and first-time visitors. The gallery is a place where conversations begin over art and never quite end. Free entry, always.

The Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago presents The Chronographer, thirty years of oil paintings by Martin Superville — dancers, figures, portraits and island light, gathered from three decades of his practice. It is a wide and varied body of work, all in oils, and a phenomenal record of the scenery and the life of Trinbago.
Opening night is Tuesday 6 October 2026, 5:00pm to 8:30pm, at the Art Society, Federation Park, with live music, refreshments and wine. The exhibition runs through Saturday 10 October.
