Anthony, the youngest of six children, realized at a very early age, his ability to draw. In these younger years he felt severely frustrated by the lack of encouragement by family and friends, when he struggled to become the painter he knew he was meant to be. Inner determination, his belief in his own artistic talent, and his faith in God, have placed him in the top level of Trinidadian artists today. Now a full time watercolorist, he chose this transparent medium of water-colour, to allow his inner feelings and vision to flow freely out onto the paper.
His love for the exciting and creative power of the water-colour medium, and his desire to make a contribution to society, motivated him to found the Trinidad Water-colour Painters in 1989.
Form and activity is seen in his 1990 series of 18 paintings titled, "Port of Spain after the Coup".
Opposing forces were fighting to overthrow the government while private looters damaged and burned many old buildings. The paintings were done at the height of the activity when the smoke billowed.
In 1993 he painted, "The Spirit of John John", a small, very old residential area of Port of Spain. It took him three days on location, and the last day he made a final detailed tour, smoke arose and the entire area was burned to rubble. Also in that same year he was invited by the Association to preserve Eatonville Florida, to exhibit his work at the Sara Neale Hurts National Museum of Fine art in Orlando.
Anthony works mainly on location, desiring to preserve the architectural history of the Island. He exhibits and sells regularly at many venues and may be seen annually during the Carnival week, at the Trinidad Hilton Hotel. Regular Student water-colour teaching classes are a part of his life, and he encourages other artists to go forward with their talent so that their dreams be manifested.
