“Father of the Nation” Dr. Eric Eustace Williams. (1911-1981) The first Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, from 1962 until his death in 1981. A Caribbean Historian, Oxford graduate, Commission’s Deputy Chairman of the Caribbean Research Council and the inaugurator of the political party The Peoples National Movement, these being among his numerous accomplishments. His ideas revolutionised systems and contributed to making Trinidad and Tobago independent from England.
