Laura Fatta

Trinidadian born artist Laura Fatta is well known for her medium indulgences. Her paintings often reflect both the complexity and simplicity of combining acrylics and various applications such as fabrics, paper and sometimes anything she is inspired by, which gives her pieces a 3D vision, her signatory element as an artist.

Laura lived in the United States in total for 17 years as an adult during which time she was well known for her "Creations By Laura" hand painted garment collection.' This collection was widely exported between 1984-1992 throughout the United States, Caribbean and South America, and some clients even framed garments as wall art.

Laura is a self taught artist with the exception of a course taken in South Carolina in 2006 which starts on the computer with a complex program TruPaint and is completed by hand which allows her to do portraits, historical architecture detailed wedding dresses etc. One of her painted portraits can be viewed at http://www.trupaint.com/artists.htm

She has been commissioned and has sold over 120 of these paintings to date.
Even though Laura had been painting on canvas ever since she was a young girl, and was privately commissioned by clients over the years, it was only after she raised her children and much encouragement from her family and friends that she finally decided to share her paintings with fellow lovers of art.

Her first FORMAL exhibition was held in downtown Port of Spain in 2006 at the LAQTEL BUILDING. Now her paintings can also be viewed in various galleries in Trinidad and Tobago. Studio 101, Horizons, Fine Arts, Y Gallery, On Location and more. Laura's paintings include "Mammie Don Cry", "Sister sister", "No Secrets", "Wedding Day" and "Dance for Joy".
These paintings all reflect Caribbean events, qualities and relationships that we as a people can relate to and identify with easily, thus making her paintings timeless, accessible and realistic in the midst of her creativity and expression on canvas. Finally, one can enjoy her paintings that mirror heritage and various elements and characteristics of everyday Caribbean living and indigenous cultural experiences.

Artist Statement
AS AN ARTIST I AM TOTALLY INSPIRED BY THE BIBLE PASSAGE ECCLESIASTES 3 1-8 "THERE IS A TIME FOR EVERY PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN".
I FEEL THAT THIS PASSAGE IS THE ESSENCE OF COPING WITH ALL THAT LIFE DISHES OUT: JOY, LAUGHTER, SORROW AND PAIN, AND HUMBLY I TRY TO HAVE MY PAINTINGS REFLECT INVARIABLY ONE OF THOSE TIME PASSAGES IN OUR WALK THROUGH THIS LIFE.
