Anthony Boos
My earliest formative 'art years', were with the successful competitive building/presentation of carnival floats in the early '50's with my father Sydney in Pointe-à-Pierre, where he was an oil engineer with T'dad Leaseholds Ltd which is now Petrotrin.
I have always been fascinated by the works of the Masters - Michelangelo and Da Vinci etc - my own preoccupation being with the life of Jesus Christ - in particular His crucifixion. Hence, iconography was my first artistic focus - ( the included Jesus on Cross image below was done at 10 years of age).
In later (and more recent) years, I became involved with both junior and senior Mas design and have worked with the likes of Mac Farlane, Berkeley, Edmund Hart and Raul Garib to name a few. I have also done numerous Kings and Queens which have had their own successes over the years - both locally and abroad.
In 1971 I graduated with a Licentiate (L.S.I.A.) Degree in Commercial Art and Design from an affiliate of Bristol University (England). Returning home, I have worked with several advertising agencies such as Trinity Advertising, Aleong & Agostini, and Lonsdale Saachi & Saachi. Among my many diverse courses of study in the U.K, I also spent some time with the famous Mme Tussaud Wax Museum in London, where I was trained. In 1974, digressing from Commercial Art, I graduated from an affiliate of the University of Cincinnati with an N.F.D.A. degree in Mortuary Science & Embalming - my forte (for which I received the prestigious Bowsher Medal Award); was for facial restoration/cosmetology. From 1974 - 1978 I was the Manager for Clark & Battoo's funeral home in South, which I left for health reasons and returned to the arts once more.
From 1993-1998, I had my own design consultancy -"Infinite Creative Concepts" which was responsible for the current corporate logos of Phoenix Park Gas Processors and Thomas Peake & Co Ltd - (just two of my many other credits).
Most recently. I have steered away from religious artworks to concentrate on more diverse themes - people (portraits), book illustrations, pets, places, local situations and culture are my current interests at present. I tend to avoid commonly done landscapes and definitely works of an abstract or impressionistic nature. My preferred mediums are acrylics and pencil or charcoal. My style is forever seeking to be as realistically detailed as possible.
