Archives for 2017
The Art Society would like to share some highlights of the opening reception of the May members exhibition on Tuesday 16th May 2017.
It was indeed a great success due to many factors including:
- The hard work from the exhibition team which includes: Gail Huggins, Peter Sheppard, Arnim Ali, Anton Hadaway and Robert Ramkissoon.
- Help also came from Marianne Hosein, Gregory Williams, Kristine Ng Foon, Leja Angelove,
- Our many sponsors ( Please see below ).
- Our photographers: Nadine Eversley and Peter Sheppard ( photo credits to both of them )
- Our exhibitors and other members, friends, family and guests.
The ASTT would like to especially thank the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. The Honorable Keith Rowley for giving of his time to visit our exhibition opening.
We would also like to especially thank the Minister of Community Development, Culture and The Arts Dr. The Honorable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly for officially opening the exhibition.
Arrivals for the evening began from 5pm an increased throughout the evening. The gallery was packed and buzzing with patrons by 6:30pm. The opening ceremony began at 6:45pm, in mid-stream it was announce that the Prime Minister would be arriving shortly and by 7pm he was there.
The atmosphere of the gallery was electric with excitement at the announcement of the PM’s arrival as it had not been previously announced that he was due to visit. Dr. Rowley took time to speak to exhibitors and guests whilst viewing the exhibition. Many attendees commented on the special “positive vibe” of the evening. Many past opening night attendees said they had not felt that way since many years. New attendees and guests expressed their delight and enthusiasm, very much looking forward to subsequent member’s exhibition.
The board of the ASTT would like to remind everyone that in order for the exhibition to be successful in artwork sales you, the artist, must play a part in the promotion and marketing of it.
We strongly feel that no one can talk / promote more passionately about your art than you, who creates it.
For example: Telling / inviting your family, friends, co-workers, employers, E-mail, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snap Chat and other social media.
Congratulations to the prize winners.
Congratulations to all.
