En Plein Air June 13th 2009
Ajoupa Pottery
Chickland
Report and Photos by Peter Shepppard
Bunty invited the members of the Art Society to join in Ajoupa's open-house down in Chickland, Freeport on Saturday 13th June. From the time the event was announced there was a keen interest from our membership to attend however this was dampened as dawn broke on the day and the rains were here.
Several people who called on Saturday morning said they would still go, despite the inclement weather. So we packed up and headed down to Ajoupa. We had to get DOUBLES on the way, that much is understood.
Once we arrived at Ajoupa we had a look around at the beautiful cups, bowls and vases of Adam Williams and at the many pieces by Bunty O'Connor of Ajoupa Pottery. There was a steady stream of visitors all day long. The artists "set-up shop" down the drive under a gazebo made of palm leaves. Everyone buried their heads and began working all the time it was drizzling outside.
Ajoupa was a bountiful source of subject matter to paint from but the rain prevent people from taking advantage of this beautiful location. But at least we all made the effort to attend. Thank you to Bunty and Rory for their kindness.
Our next session is likely to be on Sunday 7th July, perhaps a Life Drawing Studio.
Thank you all for your support and see you soon at an easel near me.
