We spent three mornings in the savannah painting aspects of architecture and landscape of the savannah. On Friday, the first day of the 6th Annual Worldwide Paint Out, we had about 7 artists working opposite the Boissiere House. On Saturday, we were in front Stollmeyers Castle and again on Sunday.
On Sunday we had a lovely big white tent and banner promoting the event and the Express gave us some press on Thursday last week (pg 12). We were happy with the turn out and artists arrived from as early as 8am to begin painting. Most everyone was well into their piece when the rains came. We had sufficient hours of sunshine and all was not lost. We would have loved to have more visitors to the tent but the weather worsened as the afternoon progressed.
This event concludes our 2008 Plein Air programme as our coordinators will be working on their respective shows including work for the Annual Art Society Exhibition in November.
A new programme of Plein Air locations will be posted on this site for the 2009 schedule and in the meanwhile we welcome all suggestions for this and other ASTT Member activities.
I can recommend that we have a page on the ASTT site where member artists of the ASTT can post their invitation and exhibition information.
Hope you enjoy these photos from of lasts Plein Air outing. Peter
