Plein Air Picassos at Bonanza Farm
SUNDAY 6th April 2008 BONANZA FARM, San Rafael
Report and Photos by Peter Sheppard
ASTT member artists enjoyed another wonderful afternoon of painting and sketching up at Edmund DeFreitas' farm in Arima on Sunday.
The clouds blew by and light danced across the back paddock at the Bonanza Farm, Some of our member artists chose to paint on the bank of the scenic Caroni River, under the bamboo and some sat under the pomerac and breadfruit tress. I was in the paddock where"Spunky" the young pony ate my pelau adding some light humour to the afternoon..
Many of the artists expressed interest in returning to this venue for future Plein Air sessions as there was alot of reference to paint from.
The name of these sessions has just been changed from the Coffee Morning Club to the Plein-Air Picassos, merging with another group who paints mid-week. Our next exercise will be on Saturday 19th April at the Art Society Headquarters in Federation Park where we will study STILL LIFE, led by member artist MARY ADAMS.
It is our aim to encourage our member artists to come together and paint away from the studios and to get to know our each other. We would also like to encourage tomorrow's artists to join our Plein Air Group and the Art Society. We would love to have our very talented 4, 5 and 6th form students as well as students from the Creative Arts Department of the University of the West Indies including their teachers.
See you all very soon at our next painting day on 19th April.
