At the Art Society Centre

Report and photos by Peter Sheppard

Here is the Still Life Report.
I'll be brief as I'm on my way to the airport for two weeks in Cuba and leaving the computer behind.
About 10 artists worked on still-life compositions at the Art Society's Headquarters on Saturday morning.
This space proved to be beneficial to all who attended and the members look forward to a repeat of this particular session.

Special thanks to Mary Adam who prepared a wonderful slide show on her Macbook on Still Life.

Still Life Studio

Report by Mary Adam
Workshop Leader

Nine members turned out for the Still Life studio at the Art Society building on Saturday April 19. Peter Sheppard came early and brought with him several folding tables and chairs, for which special thanks from everyone. Other members who attended were Beverley Fitzwilliam Harries, Mary Adam, Kathleen Tompsett, Ken Nakhid, Sharon and Stephanie Arrindell, Danielle du Boulay, and Claire Broadbridge.

Mary prepared a five-minute slide show consisting of examples of all kinds of still life going back to the 17th century and including a broad selection of contemporary still life. It had some examples by Trinidadian artists.

Not everyone was able to find a satisfactory angle to paint from. The early birds had better luck. Some enterprsing members went outside after a while and collected flowers for a second arrangement. On the whole it was a good session.
